Covid-19 Health & Safety Protocols

The Covid-19 Pandemic has been a challenge for us all. And while this year has been tough, it has been an opportunity to learn.
Our goal has always been to provide our clients the safest environment in which to seek massage and other related therapies. This commitment was made before we ever opened our doors and long before the viral outbreak of Covid-19.
In our profession, safety is often directly related to cleanliness and sanitation. Since opening, we set ourselves apart as being one of the cleanest facilities of our kind. While we continue with that distinction, we are proud to say that we were able to develop and implement additional protocols aimed directly at preventing the spread of Covid-19
Here is what we can tell you.
Low Traffic Facility
We only have three treatment rooms at our clinic and usually only treat three people each hour. Due to the nature of client bookings, appointments are often scheduled in a staggered start/end pattern. This results in our clients often avoiding coming in contact with other clients.
Strict Sanitation Protocols
A paramount qualification of any massage therapy clinic is its ability to keep the facility clean.
We built our clinic back in 2018 with full wash stations inside each of the treatment rooms. This was considered an unusual move and certainly added to the cost of our building. However, it was always our intention to have our therapists wash their hands immediately before and after each treatment. To do this we opted not to use a central wash station somewhere in the clinic, but dedicated wash stations that both our Therapists and our clients have access to.
Our clinic allots time between every treatment so that all surfaces and equipment can be wiped down thoroughly. We use a concentrated sanitation solution that we have had AHS inspect and approve.
At Effect Therapy, we run two shifts during the week; an AM and PM. Since reopening we decided to shorten both those shifts and create a mid-day break This time in the middle of the day allows for an even more thorough cleaning of our facility. Certain cleaning tasks that we would normally do once a day, we have effectively doubled in frequency.
No matter where who we are or what we do, we all have lives outside of work. In recognizing this we have taken careful steps that we believe work to limit the risk of our own staff transmitting the virus.
Closed Staff Room
For the foreseeable future we have effectively closed our staffroom and limit its use to one person at a time
As mentioned earlier we run two shifts during the day. This has provided us with the opportunity to further limit staff interaction by ensuring morning staff are out by a certain time, and evening staff arrive after they have left.
Large Reception Area
If you have been inside our clinic you will know that we have dedicated a lot of space to our reception area. This has always provided us with ample opportunity to keep our distance and is serving us and our clients well at a time when it is important we observe the 2m rule.
Our Administration Team stays on top of all announcements made and information provided by AHS, the Provincial Government and the Provincial Ministry of Health
Our staff have all pledged to observe all recommendations and rules put in place by our Province and the Ministry of Health in Alberta. We know that our clients are careful in their lives, and we owe it to them to do the same in ours.
While we do all we can, we ask that you do all you can. We all win when we can continue to safely provide Massage Therapy and serve our community.
At all times masks or approved face coverings are required to be worn. At the same time, we do acknowledge and respect those who are unable to wear a face covering for specific health reasons
